This Is Who We Are
MEMBERSHIP
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She will be asked to provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of her patriot ancestor.
STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP
- Attend a Frances Wisebart Jacobs Chapter, NSDAR, meeting or event to meet our Daughters and explore who we are and what we do.
- Gather your family history information to identify an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence from April 19, 1775 (Battle of Lexington), to November 26, 1783 (withdrawal of British Troops from New York).
- Work on and complete an application.
If you are interested in membership, please contact our membership team. To prepare for your meeting with our membership team, please review this How to Join page provided by the National DAR. If you are comfortable, feel free to continue on to the Genealogy page and work on the provided Pedigree Chart.
To assist in your research, the DAR Ancestor Search database lists ancestors on whom members of the National Society have joined. This listing is continually updated as new membership applications and supplemental applications are approved.
But, if unsure where to start or you have not researched much of your own genealogy, we are delighted to help you! Our chapter has an active membership team, including many women who are happy to help you with research and documentation, the application paperwork, and to introduce you to our chapter members, activities, and meetings. We look forward to hearing from you!
